Tile Polishing Kansas City

Tile Polishing Kansas City for Floors That Look Dull After Cleaning

Some commercial tile floors are clean and still look flat. The soil is gone, but the surface no longer catches the light the way it did when it was new. Tile polishing Kansas City businesses ask about is aimed at that problem. Brooke’s Chem-Dry is a family-run company that has served the Kansas City area since 1998, and we polish VCT, ceramic, stone, terrazzo and travertine for offices, shops and other commercial spaces across Clay County and Platte County. Call (816) 841-4776 for a free quote.

Signs a Tile Floor May Be Ready for Polishing

  • The floor still looks dull right after it has been cleaned.
  • The main walking paths look flatter than the corners and edges.
  • Light bounces off the floor unevenly, with hazy or cloudy patches.
  • Fine scratches and scuffs show up under the store or office lights.

Floor will not hold its shine? Describe it to Brooke’s Chem-Dry at 816-841-4776.

I gave 3 stars because the cleaning itself was good and quick. However, the cleaner didn’t have a warm and pleasant disposition. When I brought a couple of concerns to his attention he seemed put upon by me asking him and at one point shrugged and walked off dismissively to get deodorizer for the carpet as I was talking to him. I just wanted him out of my house at that point and told him to not worry about deodorizing. I went ahead and paid him so he could leave. Concerns included him using shoe covers when entering my house and me pointing out that it smelled like motor oil after he finished cleaning my stairs and rug. TBH I think this young man is over-worked and exhausted. This is my first and last time using them. I don’t like being made to feel uncomfortable in my own home.

Professional Polishing, Cleaning and Sealing: What Each Service Is For

These three are easy to mix up, and paying for the wrong one wastes money. Here is the short version.

ServiceWhat it is for
CleaningLifting soil off the surface of the tile and out of the grout
PolishingBringing back the sheen on tile whose surface has dulled
SealingSlowing soil and spills from soaking into grout and porous stone

Cleaning will not restore a lost sheen, and polishing will not fix grout that is stained or packed with soil. A floor with several of these problems may need more than one service. Brooke’s Chem-Dry cleans grout and offers tile and grout sealing, so the other pieces are available when a floor needs them.

Tile polishing and waxing Kansas City

What Polishing Means for Each Tile Type

VCT

VCT is vinyl composite tile, and many VCT floors carry a wax finish. On those floors much of the shine you see comes from the finish, so it is worth asking whether the dull look is the tile or the coating on top of it.

Ceramic and Porcelain

Glazed ceramic and porcelain are hard surfaces, and soil collects in the grout lines between them. A tired look on these floors often has more to do with soil than with the tile, so cleaning usually comes first.

Stone, Travertine and Terrazzo

Marble, travertine and terrazzo are porous or sealed surfaces that can react badly to the wrong product. The surface decides the approach, so say which one you have when you call.

Questions to Ask Before Anyone Polishes Your Tile

  • Which of my tile types are you willing to polish?
  • What is the plan for the grout lines?
  • How soon can people walk on the floor again?
  • Is a sealer part of the job, or a separate line on the quote?

We serve businesses in Liberty, Gladstone, North Kansas City, Parkville and across the Northland.

Frequently Asked Questions About Tile Polishing Kansas City

Which tile types can Brooke’s Chem-Dry polish?

Brooke’s Chem-Dry offers tile polishing on VCT, ceramic, stone, terrazzo and travertine in Kansas City businesses. Tell us which one you have when you call (816) 841-4776 and we will quote it free.

How is polishing different from buffing?

Polishing is aimed at a tile surface that has gone dull. Buffing is a machine pass that evens out scuffs in a finish that is still on the floor. Many floors only need one of the two.

Does polishing take care of dirty grout?

No. Grout is cleaned as its own job, and tile and grout cleaning is on our service list. Tile and grout sealing is offered too, and it is a separate step from polishing.

Will polishing remove scratches from my tile?

It depends on the scratch. Light dullness and fine surface marks are what polishing is aimed at. A deep scratch or a chip is damage to the tile itself, and polishing does not repair that.

How do I get a quote for tile polishing?
